Things to Bring

What to Bring for a Day of Jet Skiing: Your Essential Guide

Renting a jet ski for the day is an exciting way to explore the water and enjoy some high-speed fun. To make the most of your adventure, it’s important to be well-prepared. Here’s a checklist of must-haves to ensure your day on the water goes smoothly.

All required safety gear, like a safety whistle, lanyard/kill switch, life vests, protective wet suits, dive flag etc. are provided for you. If you have your own life vest, feel free to bring it along for added comfort.

1. Valid ID and Boating License

We require a valid ID and a boating license, if the operator is born AFTER January 1, 1988. A Boaters Safety course is available online https://myfwc.com/boating/safety-education/temporary-certificate/. Make sure you have these documents on hand to
avoid any delays during the checkout.

2. Waterproof Bag

A small waterproof bag is provided for storing valuables like your phone, wallet, and keys while you’re on the water. The jet skis have large ‘dry’ storage compartments, but a waterproof bag adds an extra layer of protection against water damage.

3. Sunscreen, Sunglasses & Hat

The sun’s reflection off the water can be intense, so bring a high-SPF, waterproof sunscreen and reapply it throughout the day. Polarized sunglasses will help reduce glare and protect your eyes while you’re cruising. A hat can provide protection while not underway.

4. Appropriate Swimwear

Wear swimwear that’s comfortable and secure, as you’ll be moving at high speeds. Consider a rash guard or wetsuit if the water is cold or if you plan to ride for extended periods. Wetsuits are available and add extra protection from internal injury.

5. Footwear

Non-slip water shoes or sandals are ideal for getting on and off the jet ski safely. They’ll protect your feet from hot surfaces and provide extra grip on wet decks.

6. Hydration and Snacks

Jet skiing is a physical activity, so staying hydrated is crucial. Bring a reusable water bottle and some snacks to keep your energy levels up. It’s a good idea to have these stored in your waterproof bag or the jet ski’s compartment.

7. Towel and Dry Clothes

After a fun day on the water, you’ll want to dry off and change into something comfortable. A towel and a change of clothes make for a more comfortable ride home. We have a fresh water shower at our location on Summerland Key.

8. GoPro or Waterproof Camera

Capture the thrill of the ride with a GoPro or another waterproof camera. Mount it on your jet ski or wear it on your body to record your adventure from the best angles.

By packing these essentials, you’ll be ready for an unforgettable day of jet skiing. Just remember to follow all safety guidelines, respect other boaters, and most importantly, have a blast out on the water!
